Goal Statistics: Gini Co-efficient
The ABS will only conduct income surveys when they are requested to do so, and as a result recent data is often difficult to access. As at January 2009, the most recent data available appears in the graph below.
Irregular surveys suggest that the Australian government is not pursuing a particular goal in relation to the Gini co-efficient. However, we can say that the government would prefer for the distribution of income to remain relatively stable.
